The White Review Summer Party 2023

Thursday 13 July / Bold Tendencies, Peckham / Doors 6:30 pm, Readings from 7:30pm / Tickets

 

This year, we’ll be hosting our annual summer party on Thursday 13 July, at Bold Tendencies. We’d love it if you could join us.

 

We’ll have readings from Sophie Mackintosh, author of Cursed Bread, A K Blakemore, author of The Manningtree Witches, and Momtaza Mehri.

 

The event will take place in Bold Tendencies’ covered spaces. The downstairs concert bar will be open for ticket holders from 6:30pm and after the event has finished. Back issues will be available for purchase on the night.

SOPHIE MACKINTOSH’s fiction, essays and poetry have been published by Granta, The White Review, The New York Times and The Stinging Fly, among others. Her debut novel The Water Cure was published in 2018 and was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize. Her third novel, Cursed Bread, was published in March 2023 and long-listed for the Women’s Prize. She was picked as one of the 2023 Granta Best of Young British Novelists.

 

A K BLAKEMORE is a poet and novelist from London. She is the author of two full-length poetry collections: HUMBERT SUMMER (Eyewear, 2015) and FONDUE (Offord Road Books, 2018), which was awarded the Ledbury Forte Prize for Best Second Collection. Her debut novel THE MANNINGTREE WITCHES was published by Granta in 2021, and her forthcoming novel, GLUTTON is out with Granta in September 2023.

 

MOMTAZA MEHRI is a poet and independent researcher working across criticism, translation, anti-disciplinary research practices, education, and radio. She is a former Young People’s Poet Laureate for London and Frontier-Antioch Fellow at Antioch University (Los Angeles). A former Columnist-in-Residence at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s Open Space, she has also completed residencies at St. Paul’s Cathedral and the British Library.
