Female Fighters: Meena Kandasamy and Nimmi Gowrinathan

Tuesday, July 28, 19.00 p.m. (BST).

In her intricate and powerful essay in The White Review No. 28, Meena Kandasamy tells the story of how she ‘grew up vicariously involved in the armed struggle for Tamil self-determination’, tracing the roots of her activist and artistic consciousness back to her youth in Tamil Nadu, and describing her attempts, as a documentary filmmaker, to gather testimony from women involved with the Tamil Tigers. Meena will discuss her work with Nimmi Gowrinathan, Founder and Director of the Politics of Sexual Violence Initiative, a global initiative examining the impact of rape on women’s political identities. Hosted in collaboration with Guernica’s Female Fighters series.

The event will be hosted on Zoom and is free to attend. Please register via Eventbrite here.
